There are still places on the Short Story Writing course at City University starting in May. The course runs for ten weeks, with a two-hour class every Wednesday evening. It is taught by writer Katy Darby.
I took the course last year, and found it really enjoyable and, more importantly, useful. Katy is an experienced writer with a lot of good advice, and the atmosphere is very supportive, even if you haven’t done much writing before. The last four weeks are spent workshopping stories you have written. For me, this was the most useful part of the course. The feedback received from classmates was invaluable – friends and family are necessarily biased, and it was great to get an impartial view.
If you are thinking of doing a writing course, or know anyone that might be, this one is highly recommended.
